The goal of the PIDS Fellowship Award is to help increase the pool of highly trained pediatric infectious disease clinical scientists and to stimulate scholarly basic and clinical research in areas pertinent to pediatrics.

In 2017, PIDS will offer one or two year awards.  The award offering depends on the stage of training and career plans of the applicants. During the PIDS Fellowship, the applicant is expected to devote the major portion of time (approximately 75%) conducting the research project under the direct supervision of a mentor who must be a PIDS member

The awards will fund research in areas of public health/epidemiology, hospital epidemiology, clinical trials of antimicrobials, outcomes research, pharmacokinetics, pathophysiology, molecular pathogenesis, and vaccinology.  New this year, is funding specifically for research related to congenital cytomegalovirus supported by the National CMV Foundation.
